I agree. Quite the quilt of headlines. However, I am still troubled by the focus on the what, rather than the who, of President-elect Obama. Most of these stories probably highlight his half-black status rather than his accomplishments. I understand this is a historical moment but I think it does more harm to highlight his difference from past presidents and nothing to help heal the racial divide. A quote attributed to Theodore Roosevelt states, “Americanism is a question of principle, of purpose, of idealism, of character. It is not a matter of birthplace or creed or line of decent.”
